High Mark Lawyers Participated in Sino-Swiss Forum "One Belt, One Road and Overseas Arbitration"

   Sino-Swiss Forum titled "One Belt, OneRoad and Overseas Arbitration Opportunities and Challenges for ChineseEnterprises" was held in Hangzhou on November 3, 2018. The forum wasco-sponsored by the Hangzhou Arbitration Commission (HAC), the Swiss ChamberArbitration Institution (SCAI) and the Swiss Arbitration Association (SAA). LawyersYuqiu Wang and Yuhan Hu from High Mark Law Firm participated in this forum.

 

    The forum invited representatives from the ZhejiangProvincial Department of Commerce, the Legal Affairs Office of the HangzhouMunicipal Government, the Bureau of Commerce of Jinhua Municipality, the HigherPeople's Court of Zhejiang Province, colleges and universities, as well asrepresentatives from Chinese and foreign law firms and other political andpractical circles. The forum was divided into three sections, namely “theChoice and Strategy of Dispute Resolution Methods in the Belt and Road”, “Choosingthe Right Way to Resolve Disputes: Practices in China and Switzerland”, “the Roleand Opportunity of Chinese Lawyers”. In addition, the HAC and the SCAI, signeda MOU at the forum that specified the clauses on communication, informationsharing and cross-border cooperation training, arbitration publicity andassistance.

    High Mark has accumulated extensiveexperience in international arbitration and has successfully representedclients in international arbitration centers such as Hong Kong InternationalArbitration Center (HKIAC), Singapore International Arbitration Center (SIAC),London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA), Vietnam InternationalArbitration Center (VIAC) and China International Economic and TradeArbitration Commission (CIETAC). It represented a listed company in a lawsuitfiled with Hangzhou Intermediate People's Court by a Fortune 500 companyconcerning the recognition and enforcement of a foreign arbitral award, thesubject matter of which exceeded USD 30 million, and the court finally adoptedHigh Mark's representation and made a ruling of non-recognition and non-enforcement,which was announced as one of the top ten foreign-related cases in 2013 by theZhejiang Provincial Higher People's Court.
